First, an explanation of why I\u2019m using Robbie the Robot<\/a> in a post about AI, it is quite simple, this was the first time I was exposed to the idea of AI (an intelligent robot). Just to give you an idea of just how long we have been thinking about the subject, the movie came out in 1956 and it was not the first time the subject was broached.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now as to my expertise in the subject, I have been a programmer\/software engineer since 1973 and I\u2019ve been studying Artificial Intelligence for even longer (collage). I\u2019ve even written some code in several of the AI programming languages. Back in the 80\u2019s that was not easy, let me tell you. An this is from someone who knows something about both classical logic and symbolic logic. So now that, that\u2019s out of the way, feel free to ignore me. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am not going to talk about whether the stuff like ChatBot is really Artificial Intelligence or not. It\u2019s not, but that is not what I\u2019m interested in here. Even if it isn\u2019t true Artificial Intelligence it is going to have a major effect on both the economy and society of the world. So here is what I want you to do, place your self as an owner of a very big corporation that sells something to a lot of people. You also employ a lot of people. Now think about what will happen to you and every other company owner when you can replace 90+% of your work force with AI? An every other company can do the same thing. All over the world, the entire work force decreases by over 90%. Who are you going to sell your product to? Where is your market?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have faced this issue, in a smaller scale, back in the First Industrial Revolution. With problem of finding markets outside of the industrial countries was solved by \u201cOpening New Markets\u201d in the third word. Countries like China, and Japan. Neither of which wanted to open their markets to \u201cForeign Devils\u201d so Europe and the USA had to use force. Don\u2019t believe me, read up on the Opium Wars<\/a>. But what do we do when it is a world wide phenomenon? Where there are no foreign markets to open up. Where every country can do exactly the same thing? What then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First thing to remember is that when 90+% of the population is out of work, then 90+% of the population is going to be very very upset. This we can be sure of, because it has happened before in history. Maybe not as large a scale, but it still happened. So if we are smart we will look back in history and see if we can avoid any of the worst mistakes made before, not that I\u2019m too hopeful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, here is what I would like you to think about, just what kind of society and economy would exist where all the need of a individual, food, clothing, housing, etc is available for free?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
