One of the problems the Nation and the World is facing is the complete unpredictability of the current administration. I would like to give some of my thoughts on what to do based on my experience. My grandmother on my monthly’s side was, as we would call it now a “Malignant Narcissist” and I grew up learning how to deal with her. It is not easy or in anyway pleasant but it can protect both yourself and others.
First thing to understand is everything around them is totally random and it is not possible to make any reasonable kind of prediction. The only thing you can say for sure is that they will do something, say something or both in an attempt to both disrupt what is happening and to place themselves in the center of attention. If possible as the “Victim” while saying they are the ‘Victor’ (winner) of what has ever happened. With that said, let us move on to DJT and the economic chaos of the past 84 days.
First the off the randomness is both a point and a tool. Second, the conflict in gendered in both his enemies and “friends” is also both a point and a tool. Finally the great commotion in the world both economic and political is a point and tool. All aimed at putting DJT at the total center of everything. A side benefit is that he, DJT, gets to be seen as the “one” who picts the winners and losers. Any and all suffering is just a side treat.
So what can you and I do in this situation. First and foremost don’t let DJT see you react in anyway. They want and need you to react. Then be ready for even bigger and crazier actions. Next you need to plan what you can and should do to protect yourself and others around you to the inevitable fallout. This means you have to figure out some, if not all, of the reactions to what is happening and then see what if anything there is you can do to mitigate the harm that is being done. Once again, this will not be easy or very pleasant.
Finally you need to face up to the unpleasant reality that you will need to just walk away from the person and just refuse to have anything to do with them. You will have to accept that there will be people who will think the worst of you for how you are treating the “poor thing”. This is where both the traditional Republicans are right now. They are now having to decide to walk away from DJT and his MAGA supporters. Hopefully it will not take them too long. In the mean time the rest of the country is going to have to figure out what to do with all the damage MAGA and DJT are going to do.
